Long Service Leave in Queensland
Governed by the Industrial Relations Act 2016 (Qld):
- 8.6667 weeks of paid LSL after 10 years of continuous service
- A further 4.3333 weeks for every additional 5 years (13 weeks total at 15 years)
- Pro-rata from 7 years — but only if employment ends due to redundancy, dismissal (not for misconduct), illness/incapacity, domestic necessity, or death. A simple resignation to take another job does not trigger pro-rata LSL before 10 years.
- Casual and regular part-time employees are generally covered too, subject to conditions
